Harlesden’s young people have a new place to call home, thanks to a £15,000 grant from the Wembley Stadium Foundation (WSF) that sparked the creation of a vibrant youth hub. This incredible space has already made a significant impact, providing a safe and engaging environment for over 150 local youngsters, including more than 30 girls.
The Wembley Stadium Foundation’s support has allowed the community centre to extend its opening hours, offering more opportunities for young people to connect, learn, and grow. The hub isn’t just a place to hang out; it’s a catalyst for positive change. This summer, the centre hosted a thrilling Community Tournament, bringing together residents of all ages and backgrounds in a celebration of sport and community spirit.
The success of the youth hub has been so remarkable that it has attracted further investment. We’re thrilled to announce that the project has secured an impressive £400,000 per year in additional funding from the Violent Reduction Unit! This substantial support will ensure the hub can continue to provide vital services and opportunities for Harlesden’s youth for years to come.
The Connect Stars youth hub is a shining example of what can be achieved when organisations like the Wembley Stadium Foundation and communities come together to invest in their young people. It’s a testament to the power of grants programmes and a beacon of hope for the future of Harlesden.
